Hair Loss Treatment/Vitamins/Supplement vs Cost/Value Perspective in India

Standard

Hi All,

I have Created this blog to share info on Hair Loss / Treatment and the related cost in india. I am suffring hair loss and thinning for past few years, But now decided to act upon it.
Also I have collected some info over the internet on hair loss treatments and related things, So want to share with you all. Expecting that blog visitors will share there experience and knowledge here.

This post will also help People like me who are facing Medicine/Vitamin/Supplement V/S Price/Quality/Availability Dilemma.

POPULAR AVAILABLE TREATMENTS :

A) “DHT Inhibitor” like ‘Finasteride’, Popular brand available in India is Finex.

Read more about it here en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldness for its effects and some possible side effects.
Cost: Dr Reddy Finax (1mg) 30 Tablet strip will cost you Rs.123.90 or Rs. 4.13 But you can cut this cost to 1/4 by buying similar Finasteride but with some other brand and some and cutting the pill by 1/4 (google for pill cutter or knife just do fine)

Explanation on (Cost Cutting) : West Coast Pharmaceuticals sell the same ‘Finasteride’ with the name of ‘Growvita’ in (5 mg) per tablet packing strip of 10 tablets for just Rs. 32 so per 5mg tablet will cost you 3.20. Now cut this tablet into 4 and you will get 1.25mg for just 80 Paise or less then a Rupee.

But to get these brands you have to be aware and persistent with your Chemist & Doctor, As most of them want to sell expensive brands first.

Also few paragraph below I have explained how to search similar and less costlier medicine.

B) Minoxidil 5% (topical solution) mainly for stimulating hair fossils.

Cost: It Cost a lot comparatively, cheapest I can find is by ‘Ranbaxy’ with name of ‘Amenxildil’ (60 ml) Lotion with composition of (Minoxidil- 5% w/w Aminixil-1 .5% w/w) for Rs. 390

C) Ketoconazole-2 % based shampoo for it’s anti fungal properties. it’s DHT or hair stimulation property is not accepted by FDA yet.

Cost: There are lot of options, but again cheapest I could find by ‘Psychotropics India Limited’ with the name of ‘Dancure’ (Skin) (50ml) Shampoo with the composition of (Ketoconazole-2 % Zinc Pyrithionone(ZPTO) -1 %) for Rs. 65

D) Supplements or Vitamin / Mineral tablets like ‘Folliderm’ , ‘Xtraglo’ or ‘Follihair’  for biotin, selenium, zinc & copper clubbed with zincovit for Vitamin B12, B6, D3, Iron and so on..

Cost: Folliderm is 10 Tablets for Rs. 66 or Rs. 6.60 per tablet and Zincovit is 10 Tablets for Rs. 33 or Rs. 3.30 per tablet.
Though I found “Oxivim” a less costly option as in around 4.50 Rs. It give me combination of ‘Folliderm’ and ‘Zincovit’. Or ‘Skinvit’ for Rs. 3.50 along with ‘Supradyn’ which is for Only Rs. 1 per tablet, Also you have to take just 1 tablet instead of 2 so to me it’s look like a better option but some doctor need to confirm this.

Well there might be more better and less costly solutions out there, If we come together and discuss it more openly with our doctors and here.

Read point A, B, C and D again. That’s all the Dermatologist in india priscribe to hair loss patients for treatments or may be that’s all available to poor mortals , Until unless you are Salman Khan 😉

Brand name of the medicine changes but the basic composition remain same. So guys evaluate your Doctor’s priscription first before getting into some money trap.

Now comes the part which I feel can change the whole game of your hair growth story.
Status of vitamins, minerals and amino acids (kind of vitamins) clubbed with some important enzymes in your body. Deficiency of one or another can change the your hair growth dynamics. Below I have tries to give more info on that.

I Hope someone can advice us to get the test done at a decent Pathology for some reasonable money to figure out the actual deficiency.
Trust me guys its not easy to find a reasonably priced trustworthy Pathology in india, Who can do all these test with reliable results.

People like me here should learn and read the supplement or medicine contents/compositions to figure out what exactly it contains. For expert info ask their doctors / pharmacist and discuss here.

Listing some common terminology printed on medicines.

Weight/volume (w/v%) and volume/volume (v/v%) basis
EXAMPLE “5% w/v ” means 5 g of the solute dissolved in 100 ml of the solvent.
(q.s.) means On a prescription, as needed or Used as per requirement.

Cobalamin means Vitamin B12 Vitamin B6 is Pyridoxine and Vitamin H is called Biotin or Vitamin B7(see complete list below)

mg= milligram mcg= micrograms g= gram kg= kilogram
1000 microgram = 1 milligram = .001 gram
I know all Ganju- Patel’s are smart, but still just to put things into perspective. So… 😀

Now how to search similar (means same composition but different brand or name) and less costly drugs/medicine.

India Specific
http://www.medguideindia.co.in

India + World (Choose your Country) free login might be required
http://www.mims.com

Tricks how to search faster and with more options and accuracy.

Example: Type in google searchbox: “medguideindia”*”biotin-5 mg”*”copper-3 mg”  And this will get you results for all drugs/medicine matching biotin-5 mg AND copper- 2 mg together in a drug/medicine.

See search Results: www.google.com/m?q=%22medguideindia%22*%22biotin-5+mg%22*%22copper-3+mg%22&client=ms-opera-mobile-android&channel=new

And if you Search “medguideindia” “biotin-5 mg” “copper-2 mg” This will get you results for all drugs/medicine matching either biotin-5 mg or copper- 2 mg or both in a medicine.

See Search Results: www.google.com/m?client=ms-opera-mobile-android&channel=new&q=%22medguideindia%22+%22biotin-5+mg%22+%22copper-3+mg%22

Same and few more search tricks can be applied elsewhere on the internet and other sites. if some web developers are reading this then they can write a detail post on this and post a link here.

Note: Vitamins / Minerals Supplements should be taken earlier, or in the middle of a larger meal. It is also advisable not to lie down right after taking pills. it is better to split it up into smaller doses to not interfere pwith the absorption of other nutrients.

Now The Main Concern of us Indians. Available Vitamins / Minerals / Price V/S Value.

I’ve made a list of Available Vitamins / Minerals which are Medicated (means which come in form of medicines) (not generic, as I don’t trust generic one & they cost a ton comparatively) on basis of their cost/goodness and availability in India.

Price is mentioned in INR (Indian National Rupees) or (Rs.) 1 US Dollar(US$) = around Rs. 50 (for easy conversation) (Example: 10 Tablets for Rs. 50 means 10 Tablets for US$ 1)

Seeking inputs from Seniors / Doctors on which are looking better options from the list below. Or/Else they would like to suggest some.

Ideally we should be looking for some less costly single pill for all Vitamins+Minerals(with Biotin & Silica) along with all 22 amino acids (with PABA) and Proteolytic Enzyme Bromelain,Dehydroepiandrosterone DHEA, Melatonin alongwith Progesterone enzyme. Now this is a pure greed… 😮 yeah! I know 🙂

• Thanks for the kind words akhil, Also do let me know how did you find this blog? I thougt without SEO no one is going to find my blog. 🙂

1. good work, you can research the internet for all you want, without coming to any implementable conclusions. putting the data together like this solves problems for those who need it.

searching for medguide india + biotin brings up your link

good work,

2. hi I have problem of hair loss and I have consult a skin specialist he has given me following drugs
hairvita plus
droxyl250
finasteride

• Hi Ansh,
This is typical prescription any dermatologist write these days.

HairVita is a Multivitamin, See above in my post I’ve mentioned a capsule called Radiance H by Universal. It got same content 10mg of biotin, 10mg inositol along other things.
But do let me know how much it cost, as RadianceH is Rs. 10 per capsule.

Droxyl250 – Its an antibiotic, Normally doctor’s priscribe this for fever /pain or somtimes to counter infection etc.
I’m not sure why your doctor has prescribed you this for hairfall. Do ask your doctor that why he has prescribed you this.

Finasteride- Read above my post as I’ve mentioned above it is a “DHT Inhibitor” drug. It’s a temp remedy.

My suggestion is increase your Vitamin B intake substantially via food and multivitamins. Especially b5,b6,b7,b9 and b12 along with zinc, copper and iron.

Paba,Inositol, lysine supplement also help significantly.
Use some kind of antifungle agent shampoo like ketoconozole, koltar with zinc or zpto etc. Along with simple plain coconut oil (it’s natural antifungle oil). Avoid excessive stress. Keep scalp clean and your hair will start recovering.

Good Luck

3. @ria
If you are sufferingfrom [(PCOD) | Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)] then your doctor must have prescribed you metformin , Because PCOD suffering women also have insulin resistance – a condition similar to that found in diabetics (In most cases).

Intake of ‘metformin’ for longer periods leads to deficiency of B-Series (B1,B2,B5…. till B22) Vitamins, Which in turn result into skin / scalp problem. (Researchers claim this).

Skin / scalp problem means dandruff, bad skin texture and HairFall

My advice would be:

1. Learn to analyze your body symptoms, And mention it while asking questions (like here)
2. Learn to read and understand what drugs has been prescribed to you and what they do. Also mention it, While asking questions (like here)
3. Keep steady good intake of All B series Vitamins (See my list above) Along with zinc / copper and iron. (Biotin or Vitamin B7 5mg /day etc. you have to buy, you can’t get this enough via food)
4. Push on veg diet with fish and eggs. (Very Important)
5. Check on weight (Not by diet, But by fitness regime)

Also have formulated this for myself, You can try it too. (Home made Cheap Hair Tonic :))

Parashute Jasmine oil 50ml—Rs.17 for base (Natural anti fungal)
Itchgaurd 5mg cream—Rs.10 for zinc and clotrimazole (help reduce dandruff and scalp issues)
Evion vitamin E 400mg capsule (pack of 10)— Rs.15 (For Scalp health)
Becadexmin Multivitamin capsule (Bottle of 30 Capsules)—Rs. 23 (For overall scalp vitamins)

If you calculate per 50ml content cost comes to Rs.35 only. 🙂

Step 1. Puncture 5 Evion capsules with needle/knife and pour the capsule content in oil bottle.
Step 2. Puncture 5 Becadexmin capsules with needle/knife and pour the capsule content in oil bottle.
Step 3. Pour the content of 5mg Itchgaurd cream into oil bottle.
Step 4. Shake the bottle furiously 🙂 for atleast 5 minutes. The idea is all content should get mix well.

Use it everyday or every other day on scalp. This really helps in saving hairs. (Shake this well before use)

Also remember, One has to be remain very calm and composed with very long wait periods to see the actual benefit of whatever hair treatments he or she is going through.

Hair do not respond to treatment like other body parts do. They take much more time to respond.

*Again I’m not a Doctor, So it’ll be great if you or anyone reading this blog SHOULD consider talking to doctor before he or she take this up seriously. As per your body condition or Medical history.
Having said that I’m just your friend who want to help you.

🙂 Thank-you

• Thanks for a prompt reply dear. one more thing.. what vitamin supplement would you suggest me to take with metformin, will B complex do?? and how do i hav o apply that lotion, just like i apply hair oil and wash it off after a day??

4. @Ria, Happy to help 🙂

1. Generic B- Complex capsules are cheap and good for every one in general.
But the composition and quantity of Vitamins does not cut for people who are actually having a B- Series Vitamin deficiency or suffering from Hair Fall.

Unfortunately in India its very hard to find Cheap and Good Composition of B- series Vitamin composition capsules. Even I’m looking for one.
Or if you can order from iHerb.com or other international supplement stores then no problem.

Till the time I suggest:
A) 1 Becadexamin Capsule per day | Rs.22/30 Caps |- It’s a good branded cheap multivitamin which includes some of B-Series vitamins along with zinc / copper / iron.
Note: Supplement capsules should be taken in day time, As body need them more in day time. Just before/after lunch/meal should be ideal.

Apart from this you need an extra B- series Vitamin dose which includes atleast 5mg of Biotin or also called Vitamin B7 / Vitamin H *(It’s a must)*

B) Few of them listed above in blog. They are good / cheap options
I don’t know where you live, So can’t exactly tell you. Where to buy it. But try it with local chemist or ask him to get it for you.
Generally local chemist don’t keep stock of these as these are very good value for money/cheap multivitamins, Which eventually hamper their sale of the similar expensive counterparts.

Try find these and report back:

Oxivim by Orchid Pharma – Rs.4 / Capsule (very good option for Biotin)
Skinvit by PIL Pharma – Rs.3 / Tablet (again very good option)
Cecure by Cadila – Rs.3 /Tablet ( very good for B-Series vitamins)

C) Or you might have to buy Rs.5/10 for 5/10mg capsules separately for Biotin, Or may be an expensive Radiance- H by Universal Rs. 10 / Capsule for Biotin and some other hair goodies.

If you could not be able to procure any of the above listed in point B, Then this is all I think you can able to buy in India.

2. The home made hair tonic or whatever you want to call it you can use it in whatever way you want. 🙂

But I suggest try to keep this thing on your scalp for atleat 12 hours. But yes you can use it like you use any regular oil and make sure your scalp eat it.

Good Luck

*On a side note how did you find this blog?

• Will check and keep you posted about the vitamin supplement availability. Got to know about the website while searching for how to take Radiance H. So followed the website… Later realised that it discussed about hairloss. I appreciate your effort of researching so much on the topic and sharing it.

• Hi, I just realized that i had seen an endocrinologist for PCOD, but could not trust his treatment as he a had been over charging as well as could not understand the logic behind so many medicines, but i remember he suggested “Amvit 5000” to me once a week, this replenishes Vitamin B12 for metformin users, its 55Rs i guess for 10 tabs, but m looking for a cheaper version. u can try this.

Constituents Per Unit
Vit B12 1 mcg
Vit D3 200 iu
Copper 0.5 mg
Manganese 0.5 mg
Vit B6 1 mg
Vit B2 1.5 mg
Vit A 2500 iu
Vit E 5 mg
Calcium Pantothenate 5 mg
Iodine 0.1 mg
Zinc Sulphate 10 mg
Vit B1 2 mg
Niacinamide 15 mg
Magnesium 3 mg
Vit C 50 mg
Potassium 2 mg
Phosphorus 17 mg
Calcium Phosphate 75 mg
Ferrous Fumarate 30 mg
Gingseng Extract 42.5 mg
Folic Acid (Vit B9) 0.15 mg

• Becadexamin (Rs.22 /30capsule) is way better then amvit5000 in price and composition both. Also there is supradyn (Rs. 15 / 15 tablet) , multivit fm omega (Rs.38 /30cap) ,zincovit, zincoaid and few others which are cheaper yet better options.

Coming back to your Vitamin B12 issue.
We humans need around 6mcg (micrograms) of Vitamin B12 or methylcobalmin, cynocobalmin or simply cobalamin.
Best option in supplement form is methylcobalmin.

After 30 years, Human capacity to absorb B series vitamin starts getting limited. That’s how we start seeing aging and all that.
Now for example, If you take 1mg (milligram) or in other words 1000mcg (micrograms) of vitamin B12 “under tounge slow dissolve tablet” like say “Nurokind OD” (Rs. 80 /20 Tablet) then your body might be able to absorb only 10mcg or 10 micrograms of vitamin B12.

So start focusing on natural Vitain B12 foods like Soyabean, BengalGram (Chana), peanuts , fish , eggs etc.

Also list what all supplement / medicine’s are you taking.

Good luck:)

5. Hi axeteve..found this blog while googling on Biotin for hair growth. Very informative. I have a few queries..I have the classic male pattern thinning of hair with scalp showing almost near my crown..I am suffering from severe hairfall…I have not seen a dermatologist yet but hoping to do so by the beginning of next month..
1) What supplements are u presently using that have really helped in reducing your hairfall if not completely stopping it? what is your daily routine to take these tablets (means timing)?
2) Other than the tonic mentioned above, are u applying any other oil and if u are what is your schedule?
3) what have u heard about onion juice to scalp..Does it help?
4) If the supplements have helped, how long did it take before u saw results?
Hope I can do something about my hairfall soon…waiting for ur reply…Once again very informative site…

• Hi @Roy,
First answers to your quires.
1) Radiance H by Universal Rs. 10 per capsule per day
2) Simple plain coconut oil (parashute)
3) Yes I heard it, I haven’t tried it, So can’t comment. (I don’t believe in theories which doesn’t explain the science behind it.)
4) You can definitely feel the quality of hairs and texture / thickness improvement etc. after a month. But hairs do not respond like other body parts and one has to be very patient and consistent with hair treatment or supplement regime.

Now my points:
A) Please read my entire blogpost carefully. I have already answered almost all of your questions in my blogpost above 🙂
B) Atleast once do visit dermatologist. May be just to see what he / she prescribe to you.
C) Since only know 40 % reasons of hairfall. Rest of the 60% reasons behind hairfall is still unknown.
D) There is no alternative to good quality food (green veg / food rich in B vitamins etc.) Helps incredibly in restoring / saving hairs.
E) Live Stress free, Stress trigger a body chemical reaction science call it “Auto immune decease” (no one knows if and why it attack hairs)

Good Luck:)

• Hi-axeteve

Tab felnite
Tab feliglo
Cap conis
Cap Nilco-D
Cap Majitrich
Tab Juene
Tab felliderm
Cap Bevan

All the above medicine are very costly so is there any less expensive combination for these medicine . Please reply

Thanks

Mustafiz

• Hi @Mustafiz,

1. May we know her (Dr.s Name)
2. Most (I mean majority) of dermatologists proscribe following medicines (May be because none of much is available yet)

The drug name (Brand name can differ, But the composition is essentially same)

A) “DHT Inhibitor” like ‘Finasteride’, Popular brand available in India is Finex. (Finex is comparatively cheaper)

B) Minoxidil 5% (topical solution) mainly for stimulating hair fossils. (Hair 4U is comparatively cheaper)

C) Ketoconazole-2 % based shampoo for it’s anti fungal properties or similar. (Denclear is in comparison cheaper)

D) Supplements or Vitamin / Mineral tablets like ‘Folliderm’ , ‘Xtraglo’ or ‘Follihair’ for biotin, selenium, zinc & copper clubbed with zincovit for Vitamin B12, B6, D3, Iron and so on..

(Take becadexamin Rs.22 /30 capsule and Radiance H or Folliderm for Biotin) All biotin tablets cost between Rs. 5 – 10 as per brand and constitutes.

Don’t get confused by gimmicks, Push food habits which gives you Vitamin B Series via Veg,Grains fish, eggs etc. Good food helps tremendously.

Good Luck:)

• Which Medicine you are talking about? I do not ask people to take this or that medicine or supplement. We just discuss and share info as a community. Where i take the lead.Hence whatever medicine you take or consider is entirely your choice, we are here just to guide you further.

Also you need to take a closer look of my blog post and comments made by users. All this timing etc information has been discussed earlier. Please do read the entire blog carefully.

If you’ve any other specific query then please mention.

Good Luck

i was asking about all the medicine which you have mention above.

• Ok. The reason i push people to read the entre blog is to spread info. Thanks for taking time to reading it. Just few lines below I’ve also written this.

“Note: Vitamins / Minerals Supplements should be taken earlier, or in the middle of a larger meal. It is also advisable not to lie down right after taking pills. it is better to split it up into smaller doses to not interfere pwith the absorption of other nutrients.”

Again, i you’ve more questions. Please do ask. I’ll try to answer them to best of my abilities.

Take Care

• hi!
be carefull while using minoxidil as ifg u stop using it ur hairfall starts again and about finasteride -it will cause sexual defect related to child birth.well as of me first take multi-vit tablets for a month and see how hair fall is if thats ok continue with it.but be carefull using minoxidil and dont use finasstride

7. Great job bro….its certainly very helpful for ppl like me…………I took Radiance H and had bloating…it just dosent suit me. Wat looks interessting is Navtic tablets,as it has saw palmetto and its supposed to help with Male pattern baldness,hv u given it a try?i hv MPB and was looking at vitamin supplements rather than finasteride and minoxidil which hv severe side effects…..which one wud u recommend

• Hi dinesh, Radiance H and Navtic are almost same formula / composition, but from different manufacturers.
Don’t get lured by marketing gimmicks, Saw plamato is essentially the same thing as fasternide. Only difference is it come from a plant extract.

Also you need to eat atleat 100-500 mg of saw plameto dose to simulate 1-5 mg of fasternide capsules, So the portions matters.

here are some list of same /similar composition from different manufacturers all cost almost same (Rs.1 here and there)

• what about zincovit or zincoaid in comparison with radiance-H. REPLY ME whether i can use zincovit or radiance as it contain natural products

• You are getting confused.
Radiance H got “10mg” of Biotin / Vitamin H or also called Vitamin B7, which is very essential for hair health.

Now zincoaid / zincovit are regular supplement to complement your “biotin” routine dose.

Similar and cheaper to zincovit and zincoaid are supradyn and “Becadexamin” which is by glaxo and will cost you less then a rupee.

You can also take becadexamin with biotin separately, but biotin is not cheap. atleast in india.

• i have been taking Radiance -H for three days but no improvement so far .will it take days to cure rrrr?//

• Hair do not respond to the treatment like other body parts do. They take time to recover and response. Patience is the key in hair treatment regime.

You need at least 3 month to see the results.

• but doctor at first meet priscribed me navakesh a multivitamin tab it controlled my fall alot ini a week but y radiance-H cant do the same?

• Very good news, Looks like navakesh suits you. Then why are you looking for an alternative? Also please post the manufacturers name ingredients / composition of navakesh. I’ve never heard of this.

• but the 2 time iwent to him i asked him can i take this navakesh but he told me to do wat he sa (ie) to tke raidiance-H,minoxidil,anti-fungal,anti-bacterial,scalpe shampoo,….

• Your doctor is correct. Still if you think navaksh is helping you then you should follow navakesh for three months and test the results. Also tell me what are the ingredients / composition of navakesh.

• but radiance-H do not contain zinc ,biotin, inositol cystiene,mg,selinium, vitamins b,c at the daily requirement amount at 10 per tablet

• This is the formula / composition of radiance H or also come with name of Neozo or Nevtic etc. Or you can also take oxivim which is very good, but hard to find in retail shops.

RADIANCE H capsules By Universal collagen peptides (type 1) 175 mg grape seed extract 10 mg green tea extract 10 mg calcium pantothenate 25 mg nicotinamide 20 mg vitamin C 15 mg biotin 10 mg choline bitartrate 10 mg inositol 10 mg folic acid 5 mg vitamin B6 1.5 mg L-methionine 40 mg l-cysteine 10 mg L-lysine 10 mg zinc 7.5 mg iron 7.5 mg copper 2 mg silica 2 mg selenium 0.05 mg

• i dont know the exact comp of navakesh but i contains zn,selinium, cysteine ,insitol, biotin, mminerals, vitamins in daily requirement quantities .

• You don’t have a name of the manufacturer? Is this tablet selling without FDA approval licensing? Then i suggest beware of this kind of products. They are (navakesh) types are of lower or bad quality. Better take oxivim its for Rs. 4 and it’s a better solution then Radiance H in my point of view.

• All multivitamins are in principal antioxidents. And most of them designed in a way so that can accomplish most of the nutrients. All the multivitamins are being prescribed to pregnant women. But oxivim is good because the iron / zinc ration along with good portion of B7 makes it good for pregnant women.

So what is the name you said of navakesh manufacturer?

• i have not seen the manufaturers name . hav u tryed this oxivim. what about its availabiltity is it available in all medical shops rr.. and i am attracted by zincovit due to its composition and cost effectiveness what hav u tryed this zincovit ,im askin b’cause it contains the daily requirement of vitamins and minerals thats y.

• u did not tell me about the availability of oxivim and hav u tried and wat about the availability of becadexamin hav u tried it ?

• To an extent yes, but also there is a lot of other factors are involved like proper good green diets etc.etc. medication can only contribute, but can not be the only saviour.

• becadexamin does not contains biotin, inositol, selenium, cystiene, and vit c . what do u think

• No, This is just 80 paise thing, add a oxivim, skinvit, neozo, nevitic, novo-phan,folliderm, radiance h, to complete the course.

• thats not fair it will result in increased uptake of zinc and several other compund so there should be one tablet for cure if two both should not contain the same compounds

• hi!

what do u thik of minoxidil solution i read that i regrows hair but if we stop using it the grown hair will fall again back to the same condition.whats ur comments.

• Even I’ve heard the same, but there is no concrete proof or methodology has been explained any where clearly which proves this behavior.

Though most of the people confirm his by use case experience. So you’ve to use and test it your self. Minoxidil is an antihypertensive vasodilator medication which also slows or stops hair loss and promotes hair regrowth. How it does this has not been understood completely yet.

In simple terms it helps to relax the blood veins, which ultimately results in improved and increased blood flow. Which in turn helps hair to remain healthy.

9. Hai Brother,

10. Hi kumar, Gas is not and can’t be a reason for hairfall, hair fall starts mainly after deficiencies of B series vitamins and few more rather complex reasons.

Eat green veg, keep your scalps clean is enough. still if you want to take some pill then go for supradyn, this 1 Rs. tab is very good wholesome supplement.

For scalps use any shampoo, If you still persist then go for any shampoo with ketocozole or any *zole family like denclear fron cadila etc.

Good luck

11. Who are you? Doctors these days only try to rip us off (not generalising though as I myself am a son of a very noble doctor) and here you are taking your time off and answering people’s queries patiently. Great work sir. Respect.
This blog has so much of detailed and specific information unlike any other. Thanks is all I can say through my message. Keep up the good work !!

• And for my query now, Iv gone through your blog and now im left confused coz there is so much of information in there and I can’t or don’t know which advice I should cling to. I met a dermatologist at the local appolo care center yesterday who suggested FOLLIHAIR for a time of 3months. I don’t trust her prescription much coz she hardly ever let me talk and explain my situation ! Well on doing some research I came across this tablet named OXIVIM which supposedly has 3times as much of biotin as in Follihair and also some other vitamins and more compared to Follihair and is also much cheaper. So for my hair loss is it suggested that I just take a course of these tablets and use coconut oil and a ketoconazol shampoo ? or do you suggest something else?
The main reasons for my hair loss is heriditary and also the water at my place is high in salinity and Iron.
Hope my query isnt a source of bother for you. A reply would be highly appreaciated. Thank you Mr. ‘axeteve’.

• I’ll try to answer you. Since you are a son of a doctor, my request to you will be please do discuss my inputs with your father and report back what he says. 🙂

Honestly whatever information i could able to find from internet is here is summarized form, and i agree it’s too much info, but if you read and re-read you’ll starting to get it.

The doctor whom you’ve met has given you almost correct proscription. Not because she is brilliant or know the medical books like back of her hand etc. But “because there is not much available in terms of hair treatment.”

Go to ANY dermatologist or ANY doctor for hair treatment he or she will prescribe you mainly “Four (4) ” things, which I’ve already mentioned in my blog post. Would like to discuss with you again here.

1) “Any multivitamin” which got high dose of biotin with b5 /b6 etc. Actually we need more but unfortunately in India we can’t find these especially in form of medicated medication. FOLLIHAIR, NEOZO, KARGLO etc. Are essentially same formulation but selling with different name after paying for licensing patent fees.

2) Any finasteride like FINEX etc. Also called DHT inhibitors.

3) Any anti fungal shampoo with zpto etc. Popular is ketoconozole + zpto formulation.

4) Minoxidil for Vasodilation which refers to the widening of blood vessels or increasing the blood flow to hair roots.

That’s all. This is it. Final. Case close. All I mean all, national or international these four things. 🙂

Now. Why do all doctors give same prescription? Good question. But the answer is very bad. BECAUSE THERE IS NOT MUCH AVAILABLE APART FROM THIS FOR HAIR TREATMENT which is safely tested on FDA standards.

I’ve even done some research or fact finding on some latest research papers. And all say these few words in last paragraph “Exact reason for this behavior is not know yet”

There are more then 40 % of the body hair shedding reasons are still unknown to medical world (fact) and there is no sure shot way to overcome it. Hence doctors prescribe the tested formula which is safe and can actually bring back few strands. 🙂

Now my inputs frompersonal experience. Try to give maximum B- Series Vitamins to your body. It really helps. There are 22 kind of Vitamin B’s I’m listing the important one’s which is required for hair health. And B- series vitamins are water soluble, excess intake goes outside body via urine. So don’t worry about excess intake. Which I bet you can’t achieve 🙂 (B- Series vitamins are very rare to find in veg diet, and in very low quantity. B1 B5 B7 (BIOTIN) B12 INOSITOL (A type of vitamin B) CHOLIN Paba Gaba Last four listed are not available in India for the reasons not known to me. Capsules are better then tablets as they get dissolved in body quickly. Any tablet or capsule which contains these listed ingredients as composition are expensive, again for reasons unknown to me.

All the beans which got some kind of colored shell like razama, peanuts or chana got higher value of B series vitamins along with any natural colored product take for example red Capsicum got more vitamin B then green Capsicum. Try to push on these along with fish and eggs. Diet helps tremendously.

I’ve already listed Oxivim as my preferred thing, but again for some reasons unknown to me i can’t find them in retail stores. Only option available in retail stores are “Radiance H” which is expensive but good. Take it along a cheap one like becadexamin.

Also make a solution of biotin+any anti fungal +finasteride+minoxidil+b-vitamins+coconut oil base apply it once a day, it helps. Hairs do not respond to treatment like other body part do. They take time to respond, so give them atleast 3 months of proper treatment before you expect any result.

Hope i covered all your queries. If possible then pls show this blog to your father and would be happy to get his views. Good Luck

12. Thanks a lot for taking your time out and answering my queries. I will try and find the suitable tablet or stick with follihair and will take them for the next three months.
And yeah ill show your blog to my dad and im sure he would he would get a complex looking at the way you’ve gone about helping people in here…..haha…
cheers mate!

13. What is Difference between saw palmetto and finasteride .is saw palmetto have sexual side effect in male like that finasteride. Saw p is effecteve in treatment of mpb or hair regrow

• saw palmetto is as much a chemical concoction as finasteride; it was merely produced in Nature’s laboratory instead of a conventional one.

Regarding the side effects, On a personal level i can’t say much as i don’t use them, but they are more or less same, and side effects are minor and go away within a week as you stop taking them.

You can also use (azelaic acid, vit B6, zinc cream) as topical DHT inhibitor (though some people disagree on its advantages) . Also all DHT inhibitors works till the time you keep taking them, so keep this in mind if you want to start them..
Good Luck

14. Hi axeteve,

I had given my comments before previously a few days back. Anyhow, a suggested by you I went to see a dermatologist and this is what was prescribed…..

1.Tricosilk max solution twice daily after bath
2.Tab androanagen 1 daily
3 Anastim solution 2.5 ml x 8 weeks

So, these is what was prescribed to me….ur comments pls

• Hi Roy, You doctor has given you good prescription. If you can afford that its good. May we know his /her name /location.

1.Tricosilk max solution twice daily after bath—— It’s a minoxidil 5% + amixil 1.5 solution like hair4u of glenmark for around Rs. 425 or $8 for 60ml i guess.

2.Tab androanagen 1 daily—— It’s a nice tablet if you can find. Containing lot of goodies like Radiance H or HVit but better and expensive then these.

3 Anastim solution 2.5 ml x 8 weeks—— it’s solution with some secret hair promotion ingredients, but i say if you break a androanagen or radiance h capsule and mix it with a 5ml of minox soulution and apply on scalp it’ll be same.

Good Luck

15. It looks like there is a growing number of Ganju-Patel’s in India. So many found you blog (without SEO) 😉
I must say… huge props to you for compiling this one stop service center for MPB. And you’ve literally summed up everything that took me nearly 4 months to find/research/conclude. Brilliant!
I’ve been on Minox + Keta + Vit variations for about 6 months now but there hasn’t been much progress. Very depressing. I wish I could just go ahead with HT (like Sallu 😉 ) but I’m diffuse thinner and I guess it’s not the best option for me.

Few questions if you don’t mind –

1. How long have you been treating your baldness?
2. Are you following a strict regimen with same ingredients or do you vary (for instance change vitamins)?
3. What sort of results have you had so far?
4. Do you think synthetic vitamins work and/or are safe? I’ve tried my best to find natural/herbal alternatives to the needed vits without much success.

PS: I don’t use Fin for obvious reasons 😉 And yes, that side effect is usually irreversible as per newer case studies.

Thanks again for this awesome page!

Ek din hamare sir pe fir se bahare chaman ayegi. Kranti likh denge! =D

• 1. About a year.
2. I’m ort of irregular, but yes i do change regime sometimes just for sake of it or sometimes if found something new.
3. Kind of ok results, with a definitely lean towards +ve side.
4. Natural’s can be good if you find the real stuff with proper portions and all. But i find all the natural stuff sc@m. As no body keep a check on them for the quality / portions or whatever they are writing on wrapper is correct or not.
In medicines form of supplement, it is atleast checked up by FDA etc. And no body can fake the content. Atleast the branded ones are good.
Natural’s and synthetic debate can go very long. All i can say is that good food habits really help for sure.

Even i don’t use fin’s for the obvious reasons 😉

• Hi bro,i found your blog on google search results. Very informative. I have some questions to know about vitamin tablets. 1. I recently found starting my hair fall. I bought”becozym c forte” multi vitamin tablets. 1tab/1 Rs. I take it 1 tablet a day. Can i use it? 2. Is it ok to use vitamin or multi vitamin tablets in general? I have a fear that tablets cause liver damage and many more affects. Is there any side affects if i use becozym c forte for more than 3 months? 3. At what time,i can use Becozym c forte? I mean, after lunch or before lunch?. Its just an early stage of hair fall. That’s why i don’t want to take high dosage of tablets. Thanks in advance.

16. Hi,
Very useful forum ….many thanks for all the efforts to ALL OF YOU indeed.
Could anyone tell which Indian pharma company/companies is selling combination of Choline(400mg)+Inositol(400mg)+(Biotin 1000-5000mcg) OR separately, please….cost is not a concern… If no Indian company ..then please advise the name of the foreign companies selling in India…Delhi/NCR region.
Many thanks

17. first of all hats off to u..cuz u’ve done a great job.is oxivim n growvita availble in punjab?.do u knw that pumpkin seed oil is also dht inhibitor like minioxidal.i m using only minioxidal solution now i m searching for money saver biotin…thanks bro i m waiting for u responsr

• i wl go navtic n supradyn.cuz nevtac contain saw palmetto n nettle which r helpful for blocking dht.i don’t want to use finasteride cuz of thr irreverversible sexual sideeffect.does navtac+ supradyn satisy all the nutrinetial need for hair?is navtic easly avaible in india?

• Hi Rakesh, Yes both will do fine. Though i doubt the availability of nevatic, You can see my comment above (few comments above this reply) . I’ve listed some 10 other options of nevatic.

• thanks bro but i m little confused i m frm punjab i don’t think nevtac is easly availbe in punjab..last weak i try to found oxivim but it is not availble here.do u know about vb7 0r zubitin?wl i go for folliderm+supradyn?.but i want to use one tablet i hv read about all the 10 tablet.in ur opinion which one is best which contain all the essential nutrient.now i m only on minoxdial.

• All are same. Or if nothing is available then “radiance h” will be available for sure.

Zubirin and VB7 is nothing but biotin 5 mg tablets. Also pefer capsules then tablets as they they dissolve easily in stomach then a tablet, hence one get the full benefit of drug.

If still not found then you can take any biotin 5mg / 10mg tablet or capsule which is cheaper alongwith 1 becadexamin capsule (rupees 22 / 30 capsule bottle) That should do just fine.

Good Luck

18. hi,
i am prescribed ANDROANAGEN and HAIR 4 YOU 10%. can you give me the alternate of these costly medicine containing saw palmetto 100mg and hair solution which contains minoxidil10% & aminexil1.5%. waiting for reply…

van

19. before i was taking H-Vit having Biotin 5 mg Then i started taking Keraglo forte frowhich was costing me 105/- Rs.for 10 Tab i took it for four monts till April. Then My. Doctor told me it doesn’t have saw palmetto, so he prescribed ANDROANAGEN which is costing me 540/- for 30 Tab. & I am using it since April I am having result as i am taking Derma roller Sittings since April now i am on my 15th sitting. i’ve asked my doctor to prescribe me some cheap medicine as i can’t afford ANDROANAGEN so he asked me to buy FOLLIHAIR. can u help me finding replacement for ANDROANAGEN…

• Where are you from? Which doctor you are consulting and what treatment is the overall treatment cost. Unfortunately all the hair care medication is costly for some reason. Both the mentioned meds are good if you see the composition.

And I’ve tried to find it at an earlier instance but can’t able to find any good alternative to those mentioned above. Maximum you can do is try Radiance H along with 5% Hair4U solution to start with and check if they suits you and give you some positive results.

Give me details so that I can try to find out something for you.

20. I am from Delhi & Taking treatment from BERKOWITS connaught place branch. My Doctor Name is Dr. Tushar Opneja MBBS, DVD. I am taking Dermaroller therepy Package at a price of 20,000/-Rs. which are a combination of Low Beam Laser Therepy , Ozone Therepy & Derma Roller Therepy. The advance threatment is known as Stem SeRum Therepy this whole package charges are 35,000/-Rs. I am using 10% Hair4U for the last one Year now i am getting my hair line but the hairs are very thin. i am told that these hairs will become thick in few months.
It is good to see people like you helping everyone without any benefit. Keep it up…
Bye

• Thanks for your kind words, I’ll continue to do my best to help people find good hair care. 🙂

But i must tell you that, a 10% hair4u for a year means a lot. I mean good to see that you are persistent and trying. Also I feel that the price of your treatment is almost okey’ish. As these days any treatment pertaining hair means, the clinics, doctors and phrama companies start robbing you with both hands. In compare the cost seems ok to me.

Also want to know, what is the length of treatment? I mean 2 times a week sitting for 3 months or 6 months? And do the medicine they provide included in the cost or you’ve to buy those of your own?

Good to see that you’re befitting from the treatment and it’s working for you.

• Hi
The duration of the Dermaroller therepy is 20 weeks of 15 sittings. They start giving it on every week till 10th sitting after that they give a gape of 15 days between two sittings. but if some one gives more no. of days gape like me due to some urgent work or out of station tour then it doesn’t matter.
Same is with Stem Serum Therepy which is a combination of Dermaroller & Stem Serum Injection given on head in this they give Seven Dermaroller sittings & Eight Stem Serum Injection sittings.
i’ve bought Oxivim Tablet instead of ANDROANAGEN bcoz it has 30mg Biotin i think it is very good for hair growt, isn’t it ?
have i chose the right tablet? my doctor asked me for FOLLIHAIR.

• Oxivim is very good and cheap in comparison, It’s not available easily. You must have seen that in my blog post I’ve mentioned that. Have you paid for the treatment in installments? Or in one go.

21. Hi,

Thanks for the awesome post.

Brother, since you talk about Radiance-H, I would like to ask your views on Tricovit (Mfd by Siemen Lab, Mktd by Apple Therapeutics). Its contents are: Biotin: 5mg, L-Methionine: 40 mg, L-Cysteine: 100mg. It costs Rs 81 per 10 Tabs. I thought to try it (suggested by a pharmacist) but didn’t carry on because it had 10 times L-Cysteine than in Radiance-H.

I have been fighting the battle with hair loss for last 5 years.
The pattern of speed with which my hair falls is on cycle, it reduces to a point when I think there is no loss of hair, and then comes time that it falls like anything. The duration of this cycle is like 4-5 months for high loss and 1-2 months for low/no loss.
I am suffering from Male Baldness pattern and guess most of us here are suffering from the same.

I have seen about 4-5 doctors, and of course none could do anything.
What all docs suggested me:
Doc one: Minoxidil, Some B complex, Folic Acid, Mild shampoos (not ketoconazole) and Radiance-H.
Doc two: Finastride*, ketoconazole shampoo, Folic Acid, Vitamins + zinc + iron (as far as I remember) and his self-made capsule which I didn’t eat (since it didn’t mention composition).
Doc three: Minoxidil and finastride.
Doc four: Finastride/Dutastride* (don’t exactly remember which one), zinc and vitamins.

(*I never ate finastride/dutastride because of their ill effect)

When none of this affected me I thought the problem is in my digestive system, so I got that checked, turns out that’s fine too. Now I think that it’s meant to be like this, my hairs are meant to fall, and I am all okay with this. I mostly never (and hope most of you also don’t) care about baldness.

Thanks

22. I’ve paid it in installment half at the starting of treatmet and the second half is on my third sitting. I’ve asked them for 10% discount & they gave it to me. They charge one time 500/- for Doctor’s consultation fee. They just prescribed me medicine & didn’t give any medicine, it was on me whether to buy those medicines from them or from any chemist shop. they gave me 10% discount on medicines also if someone like me asked bcoz without asking u won’t get anything. This package includes Dermaroller which alone costs 6000/- Rs. which u can take home after paying full amount of package. They even charge for Dandruff comb worth 50/-Rs. after each fifth sitting they take one’s photograph of the scalp for assing the result in first five sittings one’ll see major hair fall because the weak hairs will go away so one doesn’t get afraid after that one can see the result.

Now i got a call from my chemist thet he didn’t get the Oxivim so i’ve to wait till he finds.

23. thanks bro.could u plz do me a favour? is thr any diffrnce between ketomac n dacu or nizoral?now hv been on ketomac (ketoconazole 2%).should i hv to replace it or continue with it?i m sory for bothering u agn…..:)

• In my view ketoncozole 2% + zpto 1% combination is better, like cadila / zydus / Liva’s “danclear shampoo” etc. It’s also cheaper, like some Rs. 170 for 90 ml. / Rs. 100 for 40 ml.

Or check in your city for any other similar cheaper ( keto 2% + zpto 1%) option. If you get some better cheaper option then do share here.

24. Hi axeteve, you mentioned taking Supradyn alongwith Radiance-H to complete the composition. Can you tell me what important compounds are missing in Radiance-H which Supradyn gives?

• I said that because supradyn is too cheap as per the value it provides. But now i found becadexamin, which i think is better as it comes in capsules form.

Capsules are better then tablets, as they dissolve quickly, easily and completely compared to tablets. And it’s better if you take a small dose of vitamin in-between your breakfast (example: becadexamin) as your body needs them in daytime. And then main dose of vitamins in-between your lunch (example: radiance h) I say in-between meals because its always good to have medicine just before or after meals as it helps them to get digested along with your meals and increase the chance to get absorbed in body.

For your reference, see below the components:

Manufacturer : Abbott Healthcare Pvt Ltd (AHPL) 1 Supradyn Tablet

There is also a good substitute for Radiance H , is called Androanagen by Curito labs. But i can’t find any details for it other then this picture provided by a doctor on someone. http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/axedoc2010/2011-12-06_132926_picture_2.png

Choose wisely, take your time to decide on the expensive capsules, in the meanwhile you can start taking the low cost supradyn or becadexamin to see if there is some improvement on quality of your hairs.

Good luck

25. m 22yr old havin hairloss since 1.5 yr..dr gav me minioxdl, shampoo, multivite fm omega, betaderm lotion, salicylic scid lotion, tablet dute, finacite n many more results were thr but due to high cost n fees i quit aftr sumtym again hairloss is started..thn nw m applyng ramdv baba oil alternate days n washng nxt day wit pears cz my hairdresser tld me..n my hair health was good but hairloss wer thr..so plz sugst me 1bst pill whch u posd aboce juz 1magic pill..so that i can overcum diz thng

• Hi Navmeet,
Your Dr. gave you right prescription. Unfortunately you can’t do much more then that and there is certain minimum cost is associated with hair care. Which one has to take note.

Minimum you can don
Minioxidil 5% + 1% Amexidil— Hair4U around Rs.450 runs for a month
Danclear 2% keto+ 1% ZPTO Shampoo — Around Rs. 150 runs for a month
Radiance H Capsules— Rs. 10 each

So i gues Rs. 1000 a month expenditure is there.

My advice would be keep your scalp clean with any reasonable price shampoo (Twice a week should do). Take care of your eating habits. Green Veg with fish , egg and a glass of milk every day really helps.

Good Luck

• m hvng good food lyk sprouts eggs chickn itz a high protien diet..problm wit moinioxidil is tht wen i stp applyng tht thn again hairfall starts so can it be posible jus to take radiance h or zincoaid jus a pill a gud multvitamin pill not any othr thng..??

• Minoxidill helps in increasing blood circulation, you should do well with folliderm and becadexamin with a good head massage every alternate day.

• ok il take hair4u..so shld i have 2apply it 4 along time??lyk a year can i stop using it aftr tht??n wat abt hairoil when shld i use it??n wat are folliserm and becadexarim?jus gmme d last best prescrptn..knw u hv gvn me bt tmme along with timing..n last thn u dun gav ur comment on ramdv oil n washng hair nxt day wit pears is it effective??thnx alot bro really appriciatd ur work n dedicatn to help us:-)

• I think best for you should be. Hair4U daily once Danclear shampoo twice a week Becaexamin after breakfast Radiance H after lunch

Any oil would do. Technically most of them are same.

• Apply oil where’s you want. But only remember to keep your scalp clean.

Hair4U will only work if it could able to get absorbed into clean scalp. Amd no you are not annoying me. But better if you read my entire post again along with comments made. That might help you a lot to understand the methodology on how it works.

Good Day

26. tll me by shaving our head can make our new hair thicker and denser??or can v juz trim out d air lenght lyk 1 amir khan did in gajini by doin diz can v imprv our hair health??

• No solid proof is there, but shaving head does help in other factors i.e less stress on hairs, easy massage and possibility of good absorption of medicine, easy cleaning of scalp etc.

Which in turn help hair and scalp health.

27. well i have been using minoxidil 10% solution – every day from past 4 months i culd not see any change in my hair….
also i heard about this great clinic – Asian roots , so i went to this place and asked them if i can go for a transplant but they refused (as my baldness is not visible to others at this time) , finnally the doctore suggested me androanagen tablet alsong with antaphism solution and told that i would surely see results…now iam waiting for this …
also iam planning to buy a laser hair comb – i think this would work for me as iam on an initial stage of balding process…

• Good that you are aware and doing efforts to save your hairs as early as possible.

Having said that, I also feel you are being too pushy with your hairs. Hairs do not respond to treatments like other body parts do. Hair take some time to actually show some positive or negative health.

A 10% minoxidill solution in initial phase of hair loss is too harsh. It can also make them loose natural required moisture. A 5% minoxidill with 1.5% amexidill solutions like hair4u should do fine for you.
Also your doctor has advised you correctly for androanagen.

The solution you’ve mentioned, I’m not sure about that, provide proper name spelling along with brand name price etc so that i can help you more with that.

Pushing on green leafy vegetables diet along with fish and egg with natural sleep pattern also help in reducing hairfall to certain extent. Don’t think of it all the time and stop being pushy with hairs, this will put you and your hairs in stress situations which can affect adversely on hair health.

Do share the exact details of the prescribed solution, for more info.

Good Luck

• Which place? I don’t think it’s easily available through local chemist. If skinvit is 15 for 127 then, I think Radiance H which is 15 for 150 is better. As it is in capsule form.

Just my view.

28. in punjab bro mrp of 15 tablet of skinvit 127 rs.it’s too costly then i decided to take becadexamin(24 rs per 30 capsules) + biotin vb 7 (28rs per 10 tablet) as u sujjestted

29. which oil is best for hairfall.my uncle says that bhringhraj oil is best for hairfall…now i m on trichup capsule + vb 7 + becadexamin capsule +minoxidal solution by coverit+ketomac shampoo.i wl share my experience after 3mnth of treatment..which oil is best in ur opinion?

30. hii…
I bein hairfal sufferer…tried tab androanagen by curatio and tab.cutegena -h ,117rs,by cute care pharma..both contains saw palmetto vid other usual ingredien…
I didn took dese for more than 2months..so not much improvemn experinced…but but a ayurvedic drug called ‘cap trichup,2cap bd’ by vasu hlthcare..i tuk for 4months…it rilli worked for me,to my surprise..

Ur analysis on hair suppliments is tooooo gooood…must appreciate..kp it up

31. plz tell me exact dose of biotin(recommended in milligrams/day ) to be taken for generalised hair fall..Also,tell the minimum duration to be taken for beneficial effects..

32. hi..
1.i wanna to take androanagen.along with it which tabl o abov can be combined to make the combined dose of biotin 30mg/day(more than 20mg,at least) ,OVERDOSAGE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT..
?oxivim or…
2.Application of 1ml,a meagre quantity to scalp ,i find diffic..tel,if it needs for front and crown onl(in male pattern alopecia) and it makes my hairs dry, sticky and unclean typ…my scalp is oily types..
3.Any drug/way out to REGROW (transplants, dats separate issue)hairs on lost areas like bilateral temple regions,as evry modality mentioned here is to retain/prevent further losses

• 1. I think Androanagen is good enough, still you can add a vb7 (5 or 10 mg biotin) tablet or Radiance H capsules. With morning evening schedule.

2. Wash you hairs with a ketocinozole+zpto shampoo like danclear or any to keep your hair clean. Also use any oil in very small amount after few hours of applying Minoxidil. It helps to make scalps clean, look & feel natural.

3. Dermarollar along wiith Minoxidill and some stimulating agents all together can grow some hairs back, but with limited success. And you need to visit qualified Trichologist for that kind of treatment. Expect a 20 to 50 thousand rupees expenses for a 3-6 months treatment schedule, which might or might not work. But it securely helps. I’ve not tried that so I cannot tell you to how much degree it helps. But certainly it is helpful.

Good Luck Dr. Mahajan 🙂

• Hello axeteve, Great work in putting together all these information and responding to all the queries. You must be as knowledgeable about hair as any hair specialist/dermatologist. I am using Amexidil(5%) and Finax for some time. Recently the doctor also prescribed me supplement ADGAIN. I was taking this after breakfast along with Finax for last 4 weeks. But i noticed excessive gas formation and stomach discomfort as a side effect. I also noticed excessive hairfall. When i told the doctor, he gave me an alternate supplement ESSVITAL(Ranbaxy). I have started ESSVITAL last 2 days(after breakfast) but this is also causing gas and discomfort.
1) What is your feedback on ADGAIN/ESSVITAL?
2) What is the best time to take it? Before/After breakfast/lunch?
3) I read on the net that hair vitamins have these side effects (initial hairfall, gas, frequent urination etc.). Is this correct?

33. hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

34. Hi,
My wife has got baldness with light red patches. Doctor named it as scarring alopecia. He prescribed nectar plus, kaiquin. He said no guarantee for hair growth. No improvement seen for 2 months. Pls suggest a treatment or any good medicine.

35. Thanks for a blog which helps to lot of ppl…
My trichologist told me not to apply oil at all. Applying any kind of oil leads to hair fall. How far this statement is true.

36. suffering from androgentic alopecia, thinning and the problem is with the harmones..
my docotor prescribed me minoxidil 5% and androanagen tabs
but as my hair problem is not heriditary and iv read that minox may not produce results for non heriditary cases. I thought of taking androanagen (morning)and zincovit tabs (evening)
and nizoral shampoo (2%) once in three days..
will androanagen tabs have any side effects??
if yes please state them so that i can decide on the tab that iam gonna take..

37. hi doctor, really this blog is the best when it comes to recommending products related to hairfall. have used few products mentioned and now am going to start using follihair for the next three months as a supplement and will let you know the feedback. really very very helpful post. it took me plenty of time to read from top till the end including comments and worth to read. i was actually analysing the medicines prescribed by my doctor but now i thought to buy the alternate cheaper ones as you said only brand changes but not the ingredients.

38. Hi,
Jus stumbled on ur info while surfing the net fr my severe hair loss problem and was astounded by the sheer amount of data collated and posted jus fr poor souls like us. Hats of to you for having the heart to share this valuable research.

39. Hi,
Thanks for the valuable post.
I am following the following schedule of late.
10% Hair 4 u once a day instead of the 5% twice a day
I alternate between Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo and a 2% ketomac every 2 days
Androanagen Tab every day after meals.
I keep on changing my shampoos every 2 months except for ketomac.
The last one used was Ducray.
Kindly advise any other lotion that I can use when I’m not using the 10% minoxidil as it makes my hair extremely dry and lifeless. Initially I used to use Kaminomoto but now Im using a serum.
Kindly advise.
Thanks and regards,
Malcolm

45. Hi Axeteve,

My Dr has suggested me Minoxidil 5% to use for a yr and said its safe during pregnancy, even though it says on the label not to use it during pregnancy….As i have gone almost bald i’m neglecting to stop using it…Can you pls check and confirm if its safe to use during pregnancy.

Thank you…

46. Hi axeteve,
Let me just say a big thank you for your detailed article, I found this blog very informative. Thanks for doing so much research and putting it on one single article.
I am a 26 year old guy experiencing thinning of hair and baldness around the crown, and I visited trichologist clinic for consultation, where they did my scalp analysis and took few of my hair strands for testing, within a week they had a report on my hair and confirmed that I am having Androgenetic alopecia which is hereditary in nature and other main cause is DTH.
The doctor has prescribed me medication which consists of DTH Kit (saw palmetto shampoo + conditioner), some oil, hair serum + some capsules. The total cost of these medicines for 6 months came to somewhere around Rs 18,000 which is way out of my budget and cant afford and now after reading your blog I am thinking of taking the medicines which you have suggested which are cheaper and sounds effective too.

So I m going to start with Hair4U oil daily once, danclear shampoo twice a week,
Becaexamin once daily after breakfast and Radiance H capsule once daily after lunch

My only concern is whether the capsules which I m taking do they have any side effect as I am prone to asthma and moreover should I take these capsules on alternate days rather than daily.

Would appreciate a reply from you…Thanks in advance!

48. Hello.
Thanks a lot for this great info. It is always safe or better to consult a doctor first before taking any medicine. I am 22yrs old. I have been suffering from hairfall for 7 years. If i could have got these solutions from doctor earlier then i could have saved lot of hair. Few years ago a doctor pres. Nizral sampoo and vitamins and … of Rs1000 for 3 month but result was 0. Few months ago another doctor prescribed me tab safecet & Triatop, result looked 5%. Then another doc. given sebowash, Triatop, Tab. Finax, Mintop 10% & Androgen cup(not found), result was worst than before but she said there will be more hairfall for a month then will grow. i disconti. few days then used again on shaved head, now for 1month no hairfall, don’t know what will happen next. Now the doc.given Q Sera lotion, Salisia KT lotion and Majitrich tab.,i have not used these yet.

49. hi i am taking finex from last 1 year and applying tugain 5%. I am thinking of taking Radiance H with it. Is there anything else which i should need?

50. this oxivim capsules do we need to take a b complex tablet alongwith it or just the oxivim capsule is sufficient. i have thinning of hair and even skin lacks lustre since after delivering my baby who is now tow years old.

51. Hi,

What a fabulous chronicle of all the meds available. If only I had done this before deciding to take Daine 35 for my PCOD which was actually not causing any problems for me at all…

Anyway, once I got off the medicine i have been experiencing severe hair fall because I assume the medicine was supporting an artificially high level of estrogen and now my body doesnt know how to produce it for itself.

My doctor has told me to get on Radiance H because I refuse to touch anything with hormones or steroids.

My question to you is, does Radiance H totaly free of steroids and artificial hormone stimulants?

Many thanks!

52. Hi, I really loved your post and I need some best advice form you. 53. please tell me the cost of novophane tablets in delhi. Is it useful in male pattern baldness? Is there any side effect also? Plz help urgently

54. What about Soy Isoflavone specially for womens having MPB.
I have selected following combination for my wife.

1. Irtel/Neozo/Novatic – Any one of them for Mainly herbal nettles leaf, saw plametto, PABA as dietary intake as inhibitor. – 1 Tablet/Capsule per day after meal. (Yes I will prefer capsule over tablet if possible)

2. Radiance-H – for supplemental biotin, B12 etc along with Zincovit (which is already tested to help a lot in hair problem by us earlier)

3. Ease PMS/supracal ISO – Mainly for Soy Isoflavone which is a nourisher (in a sense gives strength if I am not wrong but I am not very clear.

4. E-Tone (for Wheat germ oil & vit-E)

5. Sesame seed oil (1 part) + Wheat germ oil (0.5 part) + coconut oil (2.5 part) as massage oil

6. Ketoconazole + ZPTO shampoo for cleaning scalp.

Is it OK or any overdose will create side effects to a lady?
Thanks

57. hiiii i am rajat
i am 20 years old.i am suffering from hair fall from around 15 months and recently i am using
tugain foam by cipla 10%(rs. 600 60 gm)
adgain capsules by cipla (rs. 310 for 30 tabs)
duta max by galcare pharmaceuticals(rs.240 for 30 tabs )
alpecin liquid(dr. kurt wolff)
in morning i use alpecin liquid and in night i use both capsules(1 daily) and tugain foam(1mg daily)
so please help me that this treatment is good or not.

58. Thnx for sharing this useful information. I have also been a victim a hair loss. Recently I have visited a dermatologist. He asked me about my stress, family history of hair loss etc.

He prescribed the following medicines for a period of 2 months:
1. Andronagen: 1 Tab Daily
2. Finax: 1 Tab Daily
3. Arcolane Shampoo(Twice Weekly)
4 Tricosilk Max Lotion( 1 ml daily at night)

I did some research before taking the medication. Below is my analysis:

1. Andronagen: General Vit/Mineral tab like many others mentioned in blog.
2. Finax(or Finasteride):This has severe side effects which last even after stopping the intake of this medicine. Please check this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finasteride#Adverse_effects before starting with this medicine. It is really shocking that doctors do prescribe such a medicine knowing the well known side effects. I would recommend NOT to take this medicine ever.
3. Arcolane Shampoo: It is an Anti Dandruff shampoo with scalp cleansing action.
4. Tricosilk Max: It is a lotion made up of Minoxidil and Aminexil to be applied to affected area. Minoxidil is known to stop hair loss and promote hair growth. There are no major side effects as such but this medicine needs long term commitment for any visible results.

Now below is what I have chosen and started with as my defense mechanism for hair loss.

1. I used to have very severe dandruff. After reading somewhere online, I started using Olive Oil for hair massage and it really work for dandruff. You can apply olive oil before going to bed or minimum 1 hr before taking bath in morning. It conditions hair very well and gives shiny hair too. I use Figaro Brand olive oil and it is easily available. I use shampoo on every third day. Using shampoo It’s been 2 months now and my dandruff is not bugging me anymore. 🙂

2. Recently I have started taking Follihair has supplement on every alternate day. Hoping to see some results.

59. hi this is saswat. i consulted a doctor for hair loss, and he said i have diffused hair fall and he prescribed me a lotion Pilomin 5% and Radiance H.

From another website i read that Pilomin consists of minoxidil 5%. So if i start using it, then i haave to use it regularly. If i stop using it then the hair loss will start again. So i have to use it my whole life.

can you suggest me anything alternate for this.

thank you

61. Hi…

62. Hi Axeteve,

I’m very much impressed by the knowledge you are sharing amongst those who are facing these severe issues of hairfall. Truly speaking due to this we start loosing confidence in ourselves, we hate to go out during daytime as directly the bald patch will be noticeable and people just stare at those parts of your body. It is very humiliating to my personal experience.

I’m facing a hairloss too at a young age and my doctor prescribed me :

1) Tugain Foam 5% that is a Minoxidil content I guess

2) AdGain capsules

So I don’t feel sure that this will gain new hair but he said to wait for 3 months. I have surf a lot regarding this Male Pattern Baldness and mine is hereditary. So I was thinking of doing a HT FUE Technique or the above prescriptions given by my doctor will help the cause.

Let me know your suggestions brother I’m going bizzare and falling into depression due to this major issue.

63. Hi Axeteve, I just stumbled upon your blog after I started researching hairloss issues of my daughter and the medicines prescribed by the skin speacialist today. I don’t know how to appreciate it enough, its an eye opener. Thanks for the extremely well researched and lucid writing. I will definitely add my feedback soon after I read all the threads and add my own observations.

64. Hi,
My wife is suffering from scarring alopecia(L.p.p) for the past three years. Almost reached bald condition. Doctor after biopsy confirmed that no chance of hair growth. But still be suggested minioxidal solution. We are really depressed. Please help me out.

• Hi Kanan, I feel extremely sorry and sad to hear this.

But the condition you explained is very complex. I suggest that you visit few different dermatologist and evaluate their priscription. Ali important to note that alopecia aggrevate by being depressed or sad. I know its diffecult, but she needs to learn it to live with it and fighting to win over it. Some people able to reverse it by just being happy and stop getting depressing about it.

Also I’ll advice adding 2 capsules of Radiance-H and Evon-400 in minoxidil solution bottle, shake it well and apply it (prefebly on shaven head, if she can do it. No forcing pls)

Best of luck to you guys, and try to keep her happy and cheerful. Trust me, it helps a lot in hair growth regime.

• Thanks for your suggestion. What I understand is to dissolve Radiance-H and Evon-400 in Minioxidal solution and then apply. May I know what Radiance-H and Evon-400 will do?. Also I forget to mention that Doctor prescribed TBIS 0.1% lotion also to be applied twice.

• Radiance H is multivitamin supplement and evion is vitamin e. What i have learnt from experince that even when vitamin supplement like biotin zinc b5 etc applied topically they help. Specially as with minoxidil they can penetrate deeply into the scalp.

Which eventually help skin / scalp thus help / promote hair growth.

• Hi,
As I already mentioned, my wife was suffering from scarring alopecia for the past three to four years. Yesterday while applying minioxidal soln, I saw one or two hairs (but very thin) started growing in bald portion. The height of those hairs is not even half inch. Does this means, alopecia is recovering. please provide your comments.

Thanks.

65. Hair loss at a young age is a symptom of something wrong inside. Get your blood examined for Thyroidism – T3, Free T4, TSH , Vitamin B12, & Iron-TIBC-Transferin Serum tests.

• Dada, I agree.
But these are not the ONLY know reason(s) for hair-fall at young age or at any age. You can see a lot of old people with very dense thick full of hair head, and then you can also find young people with rather thin and less hairs on their head.

Hair-Fall reason(s) and the releated medical findings are only relevent in roughly 40% case. Rest of the reason(s) are still unkown to medical research community.

66. hi bro ,

just wanted ur advice on folliderm Tablets , I already use B complex from gnc it has Folic acid 400 mcg and biotin 50 mcg …. I wanted to know that when i use it with folliderm with the % of biotin be very high becos folliderm has 5 mg and GNC Big 50 has 50 mcg … also I wanted to know if folliderm has copper in it along with zinc ?

• Hi Rakesh, Don’t get confused with gnc portioning etc. Understand your requirement. While 400mcg of folic acid ( vit b9) seems fine, but 50mcg biotin (b7) is very less to recover from weak hair growth cycle.

You need to understand that not all b- series water soluable vitamins are absorbed by our body in reference to the amount taken orally.

Asssume only 5-7% can be absorbed by human body. So a 5mg or a 10mg daily dose of biotin (vit b9) is recommended by me. 🙂

67. hi axe thx very much bro , I will buy folliderm Tablets and take them with my GNC B complex , also do u think it will make me low in copper ? becos i don’t take any copper supplement other than from food sources pls advice , I am looking for a biotin + Zinc + copper for my hair , Btw I’m diffused thinning :(( help me , i do not want to take fin / propecia i get scared so i take saw palmetto standardized .

• Folliderm got biotin 5 mg (biotin) zinc oxide 25 mg (zinc) manganese sulphate 5mg cupric oxide 2 mg (copper) sodium selenite 40 mcg

You are covered, dont think you need to spend money on gnc etc.

68. thx very very much , if u think i need any other supplement pls do write me , its the first time im doing anything to address my hair loss , in my 32 yrs of my life 🙂 thx

I have started ESSVITAL last 2 days(after breakfast) but this is also causing some gas and discomfort.
1) What is your feedback on ADGAIN/ESSVITAL?
2) What is the best time to take it? Before/After breakfast/lunch?
3) I read on the net that hair vitamins have these side effects (initial hairfall, gas, frequent urination etc.). Is this correct?

• First thing first. Hair supplements are not meds.

Be aware about the conents of supplements. Any meds or supplements should be taken just after the meal. Please read my post above on what ind of supplement you need and how and when you should take it.

All the things you find on internet is not always correct. Drink a lot of water and eat a lot of greens.

Good luck

69. haha yes in bombay the stress is so much that u do not even realise that u are already heading towards middle age , and ur teens are long gone …. so its time to save ur tresses :))

70. hi axe , u think i need any other supplement apart from folliderm for my hairloss ? i started yesterday after my dinner 1 tab after dinner , u think it is ok? do i need any other cap. or Tablet? advice pls

71. Hi axe, I need your help at this.
For male pattern baldness doctor prescribed me to use Mintop 10% Minoxidil solution, i used that for about 2 months which results more hair loss. After this issue doctor asked me to use Hair4u 10%- Minoxidil- Solution, and i am using this for more a than a month which works good for me.. Hairfall has reduced but having some side effects like scalp itches, pimples in forhead, oily skin, hair colour changes..
My query is the content in both the solutions are same how one works and other doesnot?
I have to take any supplement/ pills for this side effects??

Kindly suggest

72. hi every one,
i like to share few tips that may work.if your young, and like to save your hairs and ready for anything consider that as a battle to save your hair, First get your head shaved then use minoxidil 5% r 10%,use as per da directions. Eat healthy food with lot of carrots, beatroot, dark color vegitables and fruits, drink lot of water, then apply paste of raw egg on ur complete scalp and allow it to dry. Wer u get lot of vitamins, and also da paste of alovera, paste of curry leaves, this keeps ua scalp clean and make ur hair root stronger. After a month of doing dis get ua head again shaved. And do it for 3 months. wer the density wil increase. Dnt ever use da minoxidil for 2-3 months wen u have a normal hair as now. since da other hair around dat area u used will also shed soon after discontinuing. All the best
